The Puerto Rico Energy Center (PREC) is committed to the recovery of Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. As a part of our efforts, we are providing free consultation services to the general public regarding energy solutions and needs. PREC has over 10 years of experience conducting energy audits and providing technical assistance in homes, industry, government, and commercial settings. In addition, PREC, in collaboration with universities in the United States, and with the support of the National Laboratories of the United States Department of Energy, is conducting research for the development of new energy technologies. Our consulting services intend to provide advice to the general public regarding the operation, maintenance, installation, and limitations of equipment that generates electrical energy. Additionally, these services aim to offer safety advice in order to avoid accidents caused by the inadequate handling of these devices and equipment.
The consulting services provided include the following:
- Determining typical consumption needs for your residence or business
- Selecting electrical generator alternatives to supply the desired consumption, installation (wiring, "transfer switch", etc.), and safety concerns and issues
- Consulting services for using solar energy (number of panels, inverters, and method of connection to the electrical grid)
- Solar energy storage alternatives
