Analyzing Big Data to Monitor Power Grids

Monitoring smart power grids requires analyzing large data sets that are generated by myriad of sensors and devices connected to the network. In an attempt to prevent power disruptions or blackout, complex algorithms analyze different types of events in order to detect abnormal episodes or anomalies. This presentation reviews representative monitoring approaches for detecting abnormal events in smart power grid systems.
